Small Circle Films develops and produces documentary film projects. Over the last twenty years, Phil Walker and his creative partners have produced three feature documentaries: D-Day: Down to Earth, General Orders No. 9, and The Fire Inside, as well as numerous smaller films.
Phil Walker is the owner and creative director of Small Circle Films. In the 1990s, Phil produced global media campaigns in support of three United Nations Conferences–the Earth Summit in ’92, the Population and Development Conference in ’94, and the Women’s Conference in ’95–featuring dignitaries such as Archbishop Desmond Tutu, President Jimmy Carter, Vice President Al Gore, and Jacques Cousteau. These experiences inspired Phil to launch his own company in 1998 with a focus on documentary films.

The Fire Inside is a documentary that asks provocative questions and offers thoughtful perspectives on our relationship to the natural world and the ecological crises we face today. This film follows a small, diverse group on a contemplative retreat as they explore the wildness about them and the passion for place within.
Awarded for its visionary cinematography, General Orders No. 9 breaks from the constraints of the documentary form as it contemplates the signs of loss and change in the American South. Told entirely with images, poetry, and music, General Orders No. 9 is unlike any film you have ever seen. A story of maps, dreams, and prayers, it’s one last trip down the rabbit hole before it’s paved over.

D-Day: Down to Earth—Return of the 507th recounts the history of the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment through remarkable battles in World War II and the inspiring culmination of its story 60 years later. It is an engaging and heartfelt story of citizen soldiers motivated to reconnect for one final mission: to honor their fallen brothers and establish a legacy for future generations.
